Sukharevsky proposes to increase depth of strike zone range along LBZ

9 June 2026 – General Vadim Sukharevsky, proposed to be codified into the doctrine of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the brigade and corps level to be responsible for a strike zone range of 30 km deep into the LBZ (line of contact) across the entire front line.

This will ensure survivability for the “formation”, referring to stabilization and preservation of the territorial defenses by eliminating close-range russian military targets.

Now serving as deputy commander of the Operational Command “East”, Sukharevsky stated his proposal in a recent interview with “Militarnyi”.

After that, he proposed SBS and special forces be involved in all other strikes.

According to Militarnyi, when asked whether in this case only units of the Unmanned Systems Forces should destroy Russian logistics, Sukharevskiy suggested the possibility of receiving similar means by the BPS regiments as part of the corps, but under the condition of unified coordination with the SBS.

The near-strike range for BPS proposed seems to have increased. The main target areas are counter-drone strikes, as well as russian manpower.

In Feb 2026 I inquired on SBS Commander Magyar’s Telegram channel what differentiates short, middle, and deep range and his team responded as follows:

According to the comms team, the current strike range is denoted as follows: Near-strike: 0-15 km , middle-strike: 15-80 km, and deep strike – up to 1,500 km

Therefore, the near strike range will increase to 30 km, while middle and deep will expand…. all the way to the Urals at least.

SBS has been responsible for noteworthy strikes on Moscow, St Petersburg, and fuel logistics in the TOT Crimea… which is slowly choking russian military operations plus or minus a couple roads and a ferry ride which is at this point at the mercy of Commander.

Notably,  General Sukharevskiy was former SBS Commander before Magyar took over SBS in 2025, exactly one year ago, where the unmanned systems forces became its own branch in the military.

Preserving lives of soldiers at frontline is top priority for Ukrainian military officials right now, and they are safer when further from the line of contact. If strike zone across the LBZ is increased and stabilized, soldiers can advance the reclaimed territory without having to retreat from their dug in positions.
